Alison Krauss-Steve Miller

April is sure to be a big month for Fraze music lovers. So far, two bands we’ve announced this summer have albums dropping in April. Alison Krauss and Union Station will release the highly anticipated Paper Airplane on April 12th, and Steve Miller Band will release Let Your Hair Down on April 19th. So before you see these groups at Fraze in June, be sure to get the scoop on their new music!

Paper Airplane will be Alison Krauss and Union Station’s first album since 2004’s Grammy winning Lonely Runs Both Ways. Released by Rounder Records, the album will feature the talents of Krauss (fiddle and lead vocals), Dan Tyminski (guitar, mandolin and lead vocals), Barry Bales (bass and harmony vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar and harmony vocals), and Jerry Douglas (Dobro and harmony vocals).

Here is the Paper Airplane track list in full:

1. Paper Airplane
2. Dustbowl Children
3. Lie Awake
4. Lay My Burden Down
5. My Love Follows You Where You Go
6. Dimming Of The Day
7. On The Outside Looking In
8. Miles To Go
9. Sinking Stone
10. Bonita and Bill Butler
11. Opening Farewell

These 11 tracks are sure to mark yet another chapter in the career of Alison Krauss whose talents are reflected in the way that she bridges the gap between roots music and country, rock and pop. Paper Airplane is sure to stand as testament to Krauss who is the third most decorated music artist of all time.

Just a week after Krauss’s album drops, Steve Miller Band will release Let Your Hair Down. Following last year’s number one blues album, Bingo!, recently nominated as Blues Rock Album of the Year by the Blues Foundation, Let Your Hair Down shines with some of the finest guitar playing of Miller’s career. The album also features the last recordings by the late harmonica virtuoso Norton Buffalo, Miller’s “partner in harmony” for thirty-three years. Noted Pink Floyd album cover artist Storm Thorgerson, who also did the wonderfully whimsical cover to Bingo!, returns to Let Your Hair Down with one of the great album covers of his career.

One of rock music’s all-time greats, the Steve Miller Band has sold more than 30 million records in a career spanning more than 40 years. His trademark blues-rock sound made him one of the key artists in classic rock radio. And, as Let Your Hair Down so aptly demonstrates, Stevie “Guitar” Miller still speaks in the pompitus of love.

So be sure to catch Alison Krauss and Union Station on their Paper Airplanes Tour on Friday, June 10th at Fraze. And don’t miss Steve Miller Band on Thursday, June 23rd. With new music coming your way this 20th Season, these shows are a must-see!
