Get the Scoop on Classic Rock n’ Blues Show’s Return to Fraze

Posted on 2013-08-15.

Headlining the inaugural Bacon Fest at Fraze Pavilion, the Classic Rock n’ Blues Show will feature the return of Edgar Winter Band and Rick Derringer in the second annual edition of the tour, which will feature a variety of veteran artists who showcase the merger of rock ‘n’ roll and the blues.  Joining Winter’s group and Derringer on this year’s lineup will be two Woodstock legends – Ten Years After and Canned Heat – as well as Canadian guitar whiz Pat Travers.

The show has been toured all across the country and will land at Fraze Pavilion on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 7:30 PM. The bands will take the Fraze stage headlining Bacon Fest 2013, which kicks off at 2:00 PM in Lincoln Park Civic Commons. The festival will feature bacon dishes from local restaurants including Amber Rose, Archer’s Tavern, Butter Cafe, Coco’s Bistro, The Dock, Meadowlark, Ritter’s, Sweetum’s and more. This festival is presented by the Restaurant Raiders – a monthly foodie group that supports local restaurants once a month by bringing a crowd to their establishment. The local group is proud to bring this new festival to life in conjunction with the Classic Rock n’ Blues Show.

According to ABC Radio News, Ten Years After’s current lineup features three of the group’s four original members – drummer Ric Lee, bassist Leo Lyons and keyboardist Chick Churchill.  Sadly, founding singer/guitarist Alvin Lee died in March at the age of 68.  Speaking about the upcoming outing, Ric Lee says in a statement, “We are…excited to tour the U.S. as we pay tribute to band-mate Alvin Lee, while igniting a new wave of youthful excitement and appeasing long-term fans.”

Winter, meanwhile, promises that his band “will be doing a new and very different show” from last year’s Rock’n’Blues concerts.  He adds that because 2013 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of The Edgar Winter Group‘s classic album They Only Come Out at Night, “we intend to celebrate the occasion by playing some of the songs from that album I haven’t done in years.”

It’s sure to be an entertaining day filled with the savory aroma of bacon and some classic blues and rock and roll. Tickets are still available at Fraze Ticket Office and on Etix. Bring your friends and get ready to rock!
