Mix 107.7 Morning Host Jeff Stevens on Summerfest 2012

Summerfest 2012 is just around the corner and we got the opportunity to chat with Jeff Stevens of the Mix 107.7 Morning Show about the upcoming concert on July 30th, which features hit-makers Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat.

FP: Summerfest has been around for over a decade, but for someone new to the area, how would you describe Summerfest?
JS: Summerfest is more than your average concert. We throw our t-shirts sometimes stuffed with front row upgrade tickets and other prizes. We have sponsor booths of course, but we also connect the listener with the artist via meet and greets and on air interviews with the artists.

FP: How long have you been a part of Summerfest?

JS: Every year since the first year in 1999.

FP: What is new about Summerfest this year?
JS: This is the first year that Summerfest hasn’t been a retro act. The previous thirteen have been acts like Night Ranger, Hall and Oates, Journey, Eddie Money, Rick Springfield etc. We always say that we do the show based on what artist are touring and when they can play the show. This year two great newer artists became available that we play a lot on Mix 107.7 so we thought it was a cool fit.

FP: What is the most outrageous thing that has ever happened at a Summerfest?

JS: Summerfest 10 – ten years, ten bands – all on one stage in one day. It went off flawlessly thanks to the Fraze team, really good planning and the bands working with us all day. Coolest show ever.

FP: What are you most looking forward to with this year’s Summerfest?

JS: Hearing all the big hits live on the Fraze stage plus seeing how Gavin and Colbie might work together in each other’s sets.

FP: Have you ever seen Gavin and/or Colbie perform before?

JS: I saw Gavin open for David Cook last fall, and he was fantastic. Colbie performed here at the station at our Wendy’s lounge in 2010.

FP: What can we expect from a live show?
JS: Lots of energy, a spirit of fun and lots of sing-along songs.

FP: On your morning show, you do a bit known as the “impossible question.” If you asked Gavin and Colbie the impossible question, who do you think would win the prize?
JS: (laughs) I’m going with…Colbie. She’s brighter than the sun. Sorry about that one.

FP: Any special plans for Summerfest’s 15th Anniversary?
JS: Hmm…fifteen years…fifteen bands? Better check with Fraze Pavilion on that one!

FP: Are there any special promotions for the event that fans should know about?

JS: We will be doing 5-4-3-2-1 contests to win up close tickets in the first 5 rows plus chances to be a VIP for the day. Make sure to visit our website www.mix1077.com for the ways to win.
