The Taste

(KETTERING, OH) Fraze Pavilion’s concert season is almost over and in the history books as the 2015 line-up of stars, free festivals, and more wraps for the year. It seems like Fraze GM Karen Durham and yours truly were just talking about the great summer season at the Kettering venue.

Comma but wait…. there’s one more.

It’s time for the 29th edition of ‘The Taste’ coming up this Thursday September 3, 6-10:00 p.m. at Lincoln Park Commons.

Ann-Lisa Allen, president of the Kettering, Moraine, Oakwood Chamber puts it together every year and it is one of the most popular events held in Lincoln Park.

“We work on the Taste probably 10 months out of the year. It is exciting the closer we get to the event, the more new ideas come to us. We try very hard to make the event as easy as possible for taste-goers so they can just concentrate on the great food! It takes a team of volunteers and we are lucky to have great people involved.” Allen says.

And she says, there’s no better place to hold ‘The Taste.’

“It is a beautiful park setting, then we add live music, great restaurants providing their finest fare and great people! It is the perfect atmosphere for date night, networking with business people from all over the Miami Valley, and of course THE eating event for local foodies! In addition we have chance drawing baskets and silent auction items. A portion of the silent auctions will benefit the Kettering Firefighters Fill the Boot MDA campaign!” Ann-Lisa says.

This event is a win-win for restaurants, foodies and, of course, the chamber.

“Well, it is our largest fundraiser and the revenue we generate from the event supports the business services we offer to the local community. That being said, at the Chamber of Commerce it is our mission (and passion) to promote local business. We try to deliver the participant’s target market in the attendees at the event, people who eat out, order catering or purchase gift certificates, and we try to remind the community of the great eateries we have in the Miami Valley!” Allen says.

Over 40 restaurants, eateries, etc, will be on hand offering samples of their signature dishes.

Again the event is this Thursday evening and tickets are $25 in advance.

A ticket gets attendees a wristband and samples from all participants for the evening.

Tickets increase to $30 the day of the event. Children 10 and under are $10 at the gate.

Tickets may be purchased at Fraze FanFare inside Town & Country Shopping Center or at the KMO Chamber of Commerce at 2977 Far Hills Ave, Kettering. Please call 299-3852 for more info or visit

“I hope people leave feeling like they were at a celebration. I hope they try something they have not tried before or were introduced to a new place, new people or reconnected with friends.” Allen says.

Does it really get any better than that?

See ‘ya at ‘The Taste.’ I’ll be the one with food on my shirt.
